KARUIZAWA 1965 “L’expérience”

Limited Edition of 24 Luxury Pack
LMDW Exclusive

Developed in partnership with the French crystal glassworks Saint-Louis in 2015 to mark the 60th anniversary of La Maison du Whisky, this gift set, baptised Karuizawa 1965 The Experience, is a
Limited edition of only 24 bottles. The minimalist shape of the bottles is a reference to the vials received from Japan for an introductory tasting of Karuizawa held at the La Maison du Whisky premises with Dave Broom and Marcin Miller which enabled us to discover this iconic distillery. These crystal carafes are decorated with motifs unique to the French crystal glassworks St Louis, which are also found on various other elements in the gift set.

Karuizawa 50 YO 1965 – #8636, Ex-Bourbon
Japanese Single Malt – 62.6%, 55cl
Colour: bright orangey copper.
Profile: the very full nose is divinely floral (lily), fruity and spicy (nutmeg). At first vanilla and delicately spicy (cinnamon), the palate develops with freshness into heady florals and white truffle. The long, silky finish is characterized by notes of rose petal, lichee and saffron, with cocoa powder on the retro-nasal olfaction.

Karuizawa 50 YO 1965 – #2372, Ex-Sherry
Japanese Single Malt – 62.3%, 55cl
Colour: orangey copper with glints of mahogany.
Profile: the sunny yet shaded nose evokes a field of ripe barley before becoming exotic and hot. It develops with notes of sherry rancio (brandied cherry). The very well-balanced palate reveals flavours of blood orange and purple lilac, and reveals ever-increasing exoticism (mango, pineapple). Cocoa and fresh tobacco rise from the empty glass.
